The 2007 Football Season marks the second official effort of

the UGA Gameday Recycling program.  In an attempt to collect recyclables from tailgaters and dawg fans, the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department and Recycling Division have undertaken the tasks of educating the public about recycling and collecting the recyclable materials produced on gamedays.

This program has received sponsorship from Coca-Cola and represents a significant partnership between

Athens-Clarke County, American Stadium Services

and the University of Georgia.

Why should we recycle on gamedays?

What can be recycled on gamedays?

Aluminum cans

Plastic bottles (#1 PET and #2 HDPE)

Glass bottles (brown, green, clear, and blue)

How can we recycle on gamedays?

Look for the Dawg Gone it, Recycle! volunteers and get a red-tinted bag for your recyclables (bags donated by Coca-Cola) and a black bag for your trash (bags donated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful).  Fill them and take them to the nearest recycling bin OR tie bags and leave them at your tailgating site!

The recycling program will focus on North Campus.

The program will expand to other areas of campus as more volunteers are recruited and as collection difficulties can be solved in hard to reach areas of campus.
